All middle-school Spanish classes must have a Quizlet set and a copybook set of the most recent chapter for your grade level when we return from Thanksgiving break. Most of you have shown me your Quizlet sets and some have finished copybook vocab, but for those of you who owe me work, I'll be checking once we're back from Thanksgiving break.
Grade 6 test on chapter 1a is scheduled for 12/13 for 62 and 12/14 for 61.
Grade 7 test date on chapter 4a vocab is scheduled for 12/13 for 71 and 12/14 for 72. Grade 8 test date will be before Christmas but date is not definite yet. 8th grade test on chapter 7b is scheduled for 11/9 for both classes.
7th grade test on chapter 3b is scheduled for 11/8 for 71 and 11/9 for 72. 6th grade test on Para Empezar, pt 2 is scheduled for 11/2 for 61 and 11/1 for 62. A number of new students are having problems accessing Quizlet from home. There are two possible remedies: 1) sign in to Quizlet using your google account info from school. You'll use your school user name and whatever password you gave yourself when you set up your Quizlet account. It shouldn't be the same as your school Google account password.
2) You can use any Quizlet set to do the activities. It doesn't have to be your set. Just look for a set with the name of the chapter you're studying. Make sure you type in "Realidades 1, chapter...Quizlet." You'll get a long list. You want one that has about the same number of terms that you've entered. This will be harder for Para Empezar, pt 1 because it's not inclusive of all the vocabulary for Para Empezar; but it will work once we get into the regular chapters. Clear as mud? More will be revealed in class. ¡No te preocupes! Welcome back to St. Philip Neri School! It's good to see all your wonderfully, bright, beautiful faces in the hallways again. There are many new students in Middle School this year. It's a blessing from the Lord that you're here with us. I know you're going to learn and grow academically and spiritually while you're here.
Please check this site once a week. I update about every 10 days, but homework is ongoing. You are ALWAYS in the process of learning new vocabulary. Get in the habit of studying Spanish 10 minutes a day Monday through Friday. If you do that faithfully, you'll have learned approximately 50 new words and/or phrases in a month. There are individual tabs for each grade. Sometimes I put general information on the main page--as I'm doing now--but for information specific to your grade you'll need to click your class tab. LATIN STUDENTS: if you click the tab that says "more..." you'll find the tab for Latin. Information for Latin and 7 and Latin 8 is on the same page. Latin classes are electives and require parents' permission. The classes will be discussed on Back-to-School night and permission slips will be distributed then. Latin 7 classes will start on 9/18 (classes meet two days a week on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:59 am in room 3A on the main floor). Latin 8 classes start next Tuesday, 9/12, and will also meet in room 3A on the main floor (classroom is next to Mrs. Daley's office). Looking forward to a productive and fruitful year! 62 has a verb test tomorrow on hablar--to talk; cantar--to sing; caminar--to walk; nadar--to swim; trabajar--to work. You have to conjugate each verb and translate it into English just as we've done in class a number of times. Use your Quizlet set to review.
71 and 72 have quizzles this week on the stem-changing verbs poder--can, to be able (to), and dormir--to sleep. Remember that stem-changing verbs change their stems in four places (1,2,3 singular and 3 plural). Vocab tests for 71 and 72 will not be next week due to testing. They're moved to the following week. Grade 6: 61 has a Lenten project due this week. 62 has a verb quiz next week on 3/22.
Grade 7: Next vocab test is scheduled for 3/29 on chapter 6b for 71 and for 3/30 for 72. Grade 8: Next vocab test is scheduled for 4/6 for both classes. |
