We're in the final stretch! Hope everyone had a feliz cinco de mayo. Grades 3-8 decortated classrooms and hallways. Everything is very colorful and happy.
By way of reminder, we still have some work to do, especially in middle school. Fifth grade will have a practice test on food vocabulary. Ms. Poland's class will have their test on May 18, and Ms. Johnson's class will have their test on May 16.
It's mid-April; summer break will be here before you know it. There's still work to do though so keep up with your studies. You'll enjoy the summer even more if you do your best while school is in session.
Testing is over. Finally! Easter break is right around the corner; we have some work to do before it comes.
6th grade classes will have a quiz on IR verbs next Monday or Tuesday depending on which day I have your class that week.
7th grade (both classes) has a test on chapter 6 vocab this Thursday. Be ready!
8th graders are working on packets and/or book translations. Practice and review. Be sure to bring your packet, dictionary and text with you to every class. If you lose your packet(s), you'll be doing text translation. We will have a vocab test on chapter 12 vocab after the Easter break, 4/24.
Latin Scholars: Make sure to review declension endings often and practice declining different noun/adjective combinations (like those on page 36, exercise A). Make up some combinations of your own. The more you do it, the more second nature it becomes.
Attention Latin Scholars: no Latin classes next week due to intensive standardized testing. We will resume classes on March 27 (Tuesday).
Grade 6 should be studying verb endings for -er verbs. Quiz this week. Big test next week on vocab for chapter 3A. Continue to master words you don't know and review those you do know.
Grade 7 should be looking at the verbs tener, tener que and ir + a.
Tener and Ir have highly irregular forms and must be memorized. They're high frequency verbs as well, so your understanding and comprehension of spoken and written Spanish are greatly aided by being familiar with high frequency (words that are used a lot) verbs. Quiz later this week on their forms. Continue to study for c. 6 vocab test.
Grade 8 should be focused on the 16 reflexive verbs found in chapter 12 (p. 401, first section). We've been working on reflexive verbs in class for several classes. Make sure you know their meanings and the reflexive pronouns forms (new info). Review ar, er, ir verb endings and stem-changing forms (o-ue and e-ie).
Everyone got an A on the chapter 5, part 1 vocabulary test.
¡Felicitaciones a todos!
The Google Doodle today is very cute. If you haven't seen it, give it a glance.
Happy Valentine's Day! to all the wonderful students at SPN!
